This summer marks the beginning of our 4th Engineering Development Program (EDP) at Novelis, with some of the world’s finest early career engineers from North America, South America, Europe coming together at our Global Research and Technology Center in Kennesaw, GA to kick-start their STEM careers. Participants from Korea, Malaysia and China will also kick off the program in Asia this September.
These recent graduates jump start their careers by entering a program designed to build technical and leadership skills through exposure to all of the manufacturing processes and functional areas of our business. The program includes hands-on training at one of Novelis’ 24 facilities around the globe, along with classroom coursework, work-based assignments, coaching, on-the-job projects and other development opportunities.
Supported by Novelis executive leadership, the program is considered essential to the development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers at Novelis and the next generation of technical employees. More than 70 highly experienced engineers, scientists and leaders across the company volunteer their time to teach and coach these engineers throughout the two-year program.
A cornerstone of the program is the opportunity for participants to build a global network and mindset early in their career. To encourage this global thinking, EDP participants travel to multiple countries during the program, visiting plants and learning about different cultures.
Upon completion of the EDP program, candidates have a well-defined career path with Novelis, determined by their interests and company needs in the areas of automation, reliability, process engineering, environmental health and safety (EHS) as well as supply chain, procurement and recycling.
Needless to say, we’re eager to kick off another year with some of the world’s best and brightest and welcome them to Novelis. Please join us in congratulating our newest EDP inductees.
We also encourage candidates interested in joining next year’s EDP class to learn more in the video below and to apply here.
