This week, Novelis announced its global supplier status for the aluminum used in GM’s new 2016 Cadillac CT6, a first-of-its-kind, lightweight platform vehicle in both China and North America. This is one of the most advanced body structures that we have ever worked on, and we are proud to be the lead global supplier of aluminum to this new and innovative vehicle program on two continents.
Novelis is the only automotive aluminum sheet manufacturer with production capability in all three major auto-producing regions of the world – Asia, North America and Europe.
As a result of our global footprint, Novelis aluminum is featured throughout the new Cadillac CT6 vehicle body in both Asia and North America. This includes the passenger and rear compartments, roof structure, outer body panels and door and deck lid structures. Featuring one of the most advanced, mixed material automotive body structures in the industry, with a 62 percent aluminum body architecture, the new vehicle achieves a weight savings of 220 pounds.
Novelis’ status as a leading global supplier underscores our team’s ability to draw upon the collective expertise and capabilities of our international operations in order to serve our global customers. The Cadillac CT6 is yet another proof point of the continued demand for lightweight materials in the construction of next generation vehicles, and we at Novelis are uniquely positioned to supply this growing global demand.
