Aluminum Standing-Seam Roofing
FALZONAL pre-painted aluminum from Novelis offers architects and builders endless possibilities for roofing and facade cladding.
More ductile than most lock-welt materials, shaping of this aluminum standing-seam roofing can be done easily to match any architectural application. A wide range of colors and finishes are also available, so designers can be as creative as they wish, knowing what’s on paper can become reality.
Form and Function
Our state-of-the-art production processes consistently deliver a high-quality base material and coating. This produces a surface that is extremely durable and corrosion resistant and can absorb building movement and temperature fluctuations without problem.
The aluminum base material is seawater resistant, protected with a PVdF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coating. If any areas are exposed, perhaps due to an installation error, the aluminum protects itself. A reaction with the oxygen or water vapor in the air forms a thin but dense oxide layer (Al2O3). This layer protects the base material from metal erosion.
Versatile and Durable
FALZONAL is used just as easily and inexpensively for double-skin, rear-ventilated or single-skin, non-rear-ventilated roof construction as it is for complex facade architecture. Whether for new or old buildings, this aluminum standing-seam roofing can also be combined with other materials such as wood, stone or glass to create truly one-of-a-kind designs or to match existing architecture.
Easy to work and form, FALZONAL can be cut, sawn, drilled, folded or riveted using standard equipment without chipping or cracking the coating. In addition, the alloy, coating and elasticity of aluminum sheet roofing material is specially geared for working in plumbing technologies, so it’s ideal for these lock-welt options:
- Angle lock-welt, used primarily for wall cladding
- Double lock-welt, suitable for roofing and wall cladding
- Ledge roof, used primarily for wall cladding
To prevent damage during processing, FALZONAL features a non-slip, UV-resistant white protective film with asymmetrical perforations on the exposed side. Before the material is worked, this film is removed at the perforation along both edges in the lock-welt area. The remaining film is removed after installation. It can be left on panels up to six months until all work has been completed and then recycled.
From bright colors to subtle sheens, FALZONAL aluminum standing-seam roofing is the perfect solution when using color to accentuate a feature, group or separate areas, or add architectural details. Custom color matches are available by request.
A PVdF coating system with an 80/20 mixture ratio is applied in a continuous coil-coating process in two to four layers, depending on the color, then stove-enameled. This produces outstanding color uniformity throughout the surface. The FALZONAL base material is also available with the NWS coating system.
Our colors offer the ideal combination of long life and low maintenance. Not only is the coating weather and corrosion resistant, but it can also withstand UV light and chalking. To provide additional corrosion protection, the reverse is coated with a transparent protective lacquer.
Surfaces of the aluminum standing-seam roofing are resistant to embrittlement due to light and weather exposure, and they are also dirt repellant. When cleaning is required, eco-friendly agents can be used.
Fire safety is of special concern in architecture, especially in facade and roofing materials. FALZONAL is rated non-combustible in accordance with EN 13501-A1, adding an extra layer of protection to any architectural application.
