The Novelis Operating System (NOS) provides a single, integrated way of working across our facilities worldwide. It aligns how we set priorities, deploy strategy, manage performance and variability, solve problems, and embed improvements into daily operations. By operating under one global system, Novelis reduces variability and strengthens predictability, creating consistent outcomes, dependable quality, and resilient supply chains for our customers.
NOS is structured around 12 core practices and built on proven world class manufacturing and lean principles, intentionally evolved to reflect Novelis’ manufacturing. Within this approach, sustaining performance means consistently delivering reliable results while improving performance means continuously enhancing results by optimizing processes, increasing efficiency and driving better outcomes over time. Rather than adopting a standard, one-size-fits-all industries model, NOS was designed by Novelis to meet the specific demands of aluminum rolling and recycling, preserving the rigor of world class manufacturing while simplifying execution and focusing on what drives real, sustainable performance
To reinforce consistency and accountability, NOS includes a structured certification pathway with four progressive award levels. Each level reflects both operating‑system maturity and sustained performance results. All Novelis plants are targeted for bronze certification, with some select plants advancing to silver.

We plan to certify each of our manufacturing facilities in NOS and advance them through the four progressive levels of NOS certification. To date, we’re well on our way, with 12 NOS Bronze certified plants.
