Customer Solution Centers

Novelis’ Customer Solution Center network brings research and technical platforms, operations and commercial development together to increase collaboration and innovation with our partners.

Our team works with OEMs to determine how to maximize lightweight, high-strength aluminum to design the best solutions for specific applications at the right cost to better compete against steel and other materials. The facilities are led by industry-leading researchers, designers and engineers located in close proximity to automakers’ manufacturing sites in North America, China and Europe. In addition, Novelis CSCs will provide an environment to demonstrate product concepts, simulate customer processes and performance in use, as well as leverage data to educate stakeholders throughout the supply chain about elements ranging from forming to costing.

Closed-Loop Recycling

In collaboration with our customers, closed-loop recycling allows us to take back as much aluminum scrap as possible and insert it directly back into the supply chain. Closing the loop preserves the value of the alloy, reduces recycling and transportation costs, minimizes environmental impact and establishes a secure supply chain.

Ford F-150

Over the past decade, increasing carbon emission standards have driven automakers to seek alternative material solutions to reach dramatically higher fuel efficiency without compromising the level of performance and safety consumers expect from their vehicles.

To meet these standards, Ford introduced a radical redesign of its best-selling Ford F-150 pickup truck, replacing its steel body panels with lightweight aluminum. However, to make this redesign a possibility, Ford required a partner that had extensive experience in aluminum innovation and deep expertise in high-volume production.

Building on its extensive technical capabilities developed through a 20-year partnership with Jaguar Land Rover, Novelis was selected as a key supplier for the new aluminum-intensive Ford F-150.

Jaguar Land Rover

To improve the environmental impact and performance of its vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sought to innovate and incorporate aluminum into their design and manufacturing process.

As a lightweight and infinitely recyclable material, an aluminum-intensive design would lower the vehicle body mass, improve fuel efficiency and, as a result, reduce the environmental footprint and running costs for customers.

However, JLR wished to mitigate the energy and cost-intensive nature of using primary aluminum in the production process and turned to long-standing partner, Novelis, for a high-recycled content material solution.
