Senior Vice President and President, Novelis North America
Thomas (Tom) Boney is Senior Vice and President of Novelis North America. In this role, which he assumed in April 2020, he leads all aspects of the company’s business in the region.
Mr. Boney was previously Chief Operating Officer (COO), Novelis North America, where he led the Operations, Sales, Procurement, Recycling and Supply Chain functions for the region.
Tom has held numerous roles at Novelis since joining the organization in 2006. Before becoming COO, he served as Vice President, Operations, Novelis North America, where he led manufacturing operations across eight plant locations with a focus on safety, quality, cost and delivery performance. Prior to that, he was Vice President and General Manager of Novelis North America’s Automotive Value Stream. In this role, he led the successful launch of the single largest automotive contract for rolled aluminum in the industry’s history – the 2015 Ford F-150, the first aluminum-intensive truck in the United States.
Tom joined Novelis in 2006 as Plant Manager, Oswego, NY, and in 2007, was named President, Novelis Europe Rolling and Recycling. In 2009, he was appointed to the position of Vice President, Manufacturing Excellence, where he had global responsibility for leading the company’s operational excellence initiatives in Environment, Health and Safety and Continuous Improvement. He has also served as Vice President and General Manager of the North American Can business and as Managing Director of ALCOM in Malaysia, a former joint venture of Novelis.
Prior to joining Novelis in 2006, Tom held various leadership roles at ALCOA between 1987 and 2005. He was Plant Manager for ALCOA’s cast auto wheel plant, Business System Division Manager in Pittsburgh and Sales Manager in Atlanta.
Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree in management from Penn State.
