Novelis 3×30 is our new, company-wide vision to advance aluminum as the material of choice with circular solutions and continue to fulfill our company purpose of Shaping a Sustainable World Together like never before.

 

We aim to achieve three ambitious objectives by the end of 2030:

Push the Boundaries on Recycled Content
Accelerate circularity and achieve 75% average recycled content in our products

 

Circularity is crucial, not only for lowering our carbon footprint and that of our customers, but also for minimizing waste and preserving critical resources.

Win on Carbon
Be the lowest emissions flat rolled products (FRP) aluminum provider with less than 3 tonnes of CO2e per tonne of FRP shipped.

 

Meeting our first objective to use 75% average recycled content across our products will also help us reach our carbon goal. Novelis also will seek out low-carbon primary aluminum and decarbonize our own processes.

Our Priorities to Drive Transformative Change

 

To achieve the Novelis 3×30 objectives, we’re focused on specific priorities to drive results:

Decarbonize the melting process and energy sources

We are evaluating the use of alternative fuels, new clean electricity sources, waste heat recovery and innovative carbon capture technology.

Expand closed-loop recycling partnerships by creating deep, long-term and mutually beneficial relationships

As an industry pioneer of closed-loop recycling, we’re well positioned to boost recycling collaborations, which will allow us to take back as much aluminum scrap as possible and insert it directly back into the supply chain.

Accelerate the development and adoption of new
high-recycled-content alloys

We will continue developing alloys that can accept different types of aluminum scrap and work with customers to design their products for circularity.

Improve availability of aluminum scrap by increasing recycling rates and improving sorting technology

We will work across the global aluminum value chain to create incentives for and address barriers to recycling by advocating for improved infrastructure, policy and education worldwide. We are also working on improving operating practices around the use of scrap and continuing to work with partners to improve scrap sorting technologies.

Support development and innovation of new low-carbon primary aluminum

While we work to maximize the amount of recycled content in our products we will also look for opportunities to encourage and support a greater supply of low-carbon primary aluminum through collaborative efforts such as the First Movers Coalition.
